A golf scramble can be more than a fun day on the course. For us, it’s a hands-on way to fund missions, strengthen fellowship, and gain funds and support for Gods little one. We talk through how the “Meeting In The Middle Of The Fairway” golf tournament came together, why it keeps growing, and what we learned from last year’s mix of great shots, brutal holes, and the kind of stories you only get when people are relaxed and competitive at the same time.
We also get practical about nonprofit fundraising and church community events: how scramble pricing works, why sponsorships and hole sponsors matter more than most people realize, and how a raffle can change the whole day. This year’s raffle includes a 450 Bushmaster Ruger American, plus we share ideas like keeping the raffle open during the event for extra donations. Along the way, we cover what’s new, including a perpetual trophy, plus the realities of weather planning and why we only shut it down for safety or a course call.
Then we zoom out to the bigger point: giving is part of the Christian life. We read 2 Corinthians 9:7 and challenge ourselves to be cheerful givers, whether that means supporting missions, giving time, helping someone in need, or simply obeying what God puts on our heart. If you like honest behind-the-scenes talk about a charity golf tournament, mission fundraising, and faith in action, this one is for you. Hey
Why This Tournament Exists
SPEAKER_02everybody, welcome back to the Godzilla on podcast. I'm your host, Kit, and today we have got a very special podcast. This is actually kind of a continuation of a former podcast we had. If y'all don't remember, if y'all remember, we recently talked to Jared Carroll and Jonathan Schmidt about their experience going overseas, Jared's first time going and first time after going for a long time. And we mentioned the golf tournament. And I remember last year we did a uh podcast talking specifically about the podcast. So we're kind of kind of going to do that again. So thank y'all for giving me some more of y'all's time.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. I'll send you a bill.
SPEAKER_02So to start out, I want to have Jared go ahead and don't you don't have to go into detail, just to refresh everybody on what this is exactly.
SPEAKER_00Alright, it's a golf tournament that uh laid on my heart a couple of years ago to raise money for God uh money for God's Little One. Um we um it's a scramble. Um we all proceeds go with God's Little One. Um it's just a great time of fellowship. It goes in conjunction with our camp meeting here. It's pretty good time of fellowship, but also doing a uh uh doing something for missions, doing something for the Lord, and it just kind of brings everything together, ties it together well, I feel.
SPEAKER_02I remember last year you telling me about God's given to us this week, so we're giving back to God. Exactly.
Last Year’s Turnout And Winners
SPEAKER_02And I think it's a great way to put it, and we had a phenomenal time last year. I want you to talk about last year, how I went and stuff, and last year was awesome.
SPEAKER_00The first year I didn't know what I was really doing. I just kind of, you know, I was winging it the whole time. Last year I got a little bit more understanding of what I needed to do. Um, and everybody came out in full force. We had we had like nine teams, nine or ten teams. Um it was it was phenomenal as far as um the turnout. We had lots of sponsors and everything. It was a great time. Um and everybody I've had that told me about it, they had fun, which is really what it's all about. We're raising money for the ministry, that's primary. Secondary is having a good time of fellowship. I mean, people of God getting together and doing all that stuff. So that's that's what it's all about, and that's what happened. And great time.
SPEAKER_02So the last two years, the same person has won. Uh, Corey Osborne has won both years in a row, and he's been accused of cheating both years in a row, from what I've heard. I basically say he is he's the uh he's the he's the Patriots of the golf tournament back whenever Tom Brady played. Everybody hated him.
SPEAKER_01I mean, dude, I wouldn't go that far, dear God.
SPEAKER_02I'm not saying he's that good, but I mean he's winning every year.
SPEAKER_00Well, I was on the team the first year, so I know that there was nothing going on. He's good. And he's brought in some really good players, and I have to say he's why he's winning. He's he's winning. He knows how to recruit. That's what he does for a living. He does that for a living stuff. He recruits people, so you know, it kind of does. But um, we do have this year new, um, and I know you're probably gonna ask that probably later on, but um, we do have this year um a perpetual trophy where we're gonna put plaques on it as we continue doing this. And uh Corey his name's on the two times team Osborne twice. So um it's bragging rights for generations, I guess. So here's he's two and oh right now, so we'll see. It would be nice to see a uh a new name on there this year, but um we'll see how it happens. We'll give our best. Yeah.
The Bet And The Back Nine Collapse
SPEAKER_02Johnny, I got you here to talk about multiple different things. I really want you here for stories, especially. I remember you had a you had a bet going on last year. If you remember. I don't remember. I think it was with Michael. Did you have a bet going on? Who'd place who'd place higher?
SPEAKER_01Oh no, it was with Brandon.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So Brandon and Michael had never golfed before. This was that was literally their first time ever golfing.
SPEAKER_02And I can vouch for this because I watched them through the tournament.
SPEAKER_01And like, yeah, they're horrible. Yeah. Literally horrible. And quick shout out to Brandon Hale. Hale uh Hale Land Management is our key sponsor uh for the tournament this year. Um it's put on by Victory Assembly, the church here.
SPEAKER_00But Brandon Hale is the He went over and above this year, too. Tremendous blessing.
SPEAKER_01And so we won't thank him for that. But yeah, I I I got there and I said, All right, uh, I think we had like a hundred dollar, it may have been more, dude. I may have done 300, I can't remember. But basically, so it was going back to the ministry. Right. Um so either way, God's little ones was gonna win.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01And Brandon and Michael, so basically they had a four-man team, but they had two guys that were absolute sticks. One of the guys that he brought had just won one of the big tournaments there. Uh uh. Like a like a city open, basically. It was like an open tournament. Yeah. Um, and had won it convincingly. And this kid, he was a stick.
SPEAKER_02Didn't he win the long drive competition too?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, he won the long drive. Um, he was a good golfer. Really, really. I mean, it was basically a two-man scramble against a four-man team. It was a two-man scramble with a long drive. They still didn't win the overall, but they did beat us. Uh, we were actually in really good position coming around and got stuck on the n on the tenth hole starting off, you know, in the heat of the day. It was hot, it got really hot that day. And our team was just we were cooked. And so number 10 at Cherokee Hills, number 10 is a par five, 600-yard uphill with a big old stupid tree right in the middle of the fairway. And so uh I've actually requested that we get to start a whole lot earlier on that hole this year. And uh because it's a na I mean it's a nasty hole. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Jaden told me my brother Jaden told me that y'all last year, y'all was doing good at first, then y'all went in eight and just all the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think at the at the turn, I think we were seven. We were seven under.
SPEAKER_02Y'all were doing good already.
SPEAKER_01At the turn, and I think 14 under won it. And I felt confident at seven under because I knew I'd played the course some and I I just felt like we were striking the ball really good. And dude, it got it got ugly. We started on the front nine. I played with Johnny, obviously. Yeah, we started on the front and it got ugly. Jared completely flopped.
SPEAKER_02Well, he didn't he didn't get to practice ahead of time.
SPEAKER_01He was our he was our kingpin and he just he went completely.
SPEAKER_00Well I told Jaden, because this year you kind of did 700 on the front nine. I just want to throw that out there that he's already said we were 700, then we got to the back nine, and everybody got heavy.
SPEAKER_01We went we went seven under and I think we finished six under.
SPEAKER_00I think I don't recall. I'll have to look at I keep all the scorecards over there.
SPEAKER_01I think we shot one over.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It was pretty bad. Like we I think we doubled the tenth hole.
SPEAKER_01It was stupid. Like there was even a there was even another time where we used we used three mulligans on a six-foot putt, and none of us made it.
SPEAKER_00None of us made it.
SPEAKER_01And it literally like a simple putt.
SPEAKER_00It was on the 11th hole. It wasn't for birdie or anything. It was we were trying to save parts.
SPEAKER_01We were trying to save parts. Jaden's got to be a big thing.
SPEAKER_00We actually bogeied that hole. That's what happened. And it just we were trying to save parts of the biggest.
SPEAKER_01When you bogey on a scramble, you're cooked. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And use three mulligans, you're super cooked.
SPEAKER_01You're burnt to a crib. Yeah, so Jared just completely failed us in that aspect. It's his fault.
SPEAKER_02I told Jaden, because last year you was like half an a little having a lot to do. You didn't get to practice. Who was it?
SPEAKER_01It was me and Blake and Jaden. Jaden. And Jaden really wasn't contributing it either at that point. He made a really long putt on like.
SPEAKER_02He told me he had a really long putt.
SPEAKER_01He had one really long putt that he made. Um but he he's played. I'm really hoping he's gonna be a lot better this year. Because he was just kind of getting into it. And then Blake, Blake had hit the ball a mile, but he's usually the wrong direction. And then I I wasn't contributing at all.
SPEAKER_02And then this year y'all got the handicap. Yeah, so I gotta we gotta talk about the handicap.
SPEAKER_01So Miles and Dave. Yes, me and David. I got a bad back, bad shoulder, he can't shoulder back broke rib. Broke rib. So it's gonna be interesting. He can swing. I forgot about the broke rib.
SPEAKER_02So Jared, what what handicap are you giving him? I gotta hear. Well, you gotta give him something.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I I I gotta maintain the integrity of the thing.
SPEAKER_02I mean a broke rib.
SPEAKER_00You're playing on Team Osborne.
SPEAKER_02Well, I told Jaden that thrown away.
SPEAKER_00I'm just telling you that I'm gonna be on the team. So I can vouch for that. Everything's done straight. Straight lace. Integrity and Osborne's never been using the same sentence I've been.
SPEAKER_02So we were talking about Brandon Halen and them, and that's the same team that just about hit you. They pulled a happy Gilmore. They also broke a driver before that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Brandon, I mean, Brandon's great at what he can do, but he's not a golfer at all. And uh so he lobbed one over. Well, I just turned and lobbed one. I I shot a ball right back at him. It was great.
SPEAKER_02Because when it happened was when we was over there with the live stream, so we got it all on footage.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was all live. Kenneth will be doing live again this year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll be doing the live stream. It's gonna be good.
SPEAKER_01Danny's playing though, right?
SPEAKER_02He's playing. I think Gus is gonna help me. Okay. So I'm hoping I can't, I don't want to do it by myself.
SPEAKER_01You know, honestly, people really enjoyed the live. Oh my word, it's so funny. There's a lot of good feedback on the live. It was so much fun. Yep. I love it. It's it's a good deal. Because it's you know, you can you get to see the side of people that you know they're just out there having fun, cutting up.
SPEAKER_00Which is why I love sports. Like that's why I'm sports. A lot of camaraderie. I'm like competition. Some people don't like competition and all that kind of stuff because they feel like but it just lets people relax and be themselves. Yeah. And it just brings people together. I feel like it does. People like that's just my feeling. I I love sports because of that reason.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. So it's gonna be
Livestream Laughs And Tournament Energy
SPEAKER_01fun. There's gonna be some good uh some good rifles. Uh Jared's actually been working on getting some rifles stuff together. We do have a gun we're giving away, which I know this will come out after, but we're so we'll be interested to see who wins that gun. Yeah. Um but it's a 450 Bush Master Rigger American. I want to win. And it's funny because me and me and uh Jared, I don't know if he brought it up or one of us brought it up. Hey, we needed let's try to do a gun for a rifle this year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we needed to have a title like la uh the past two years, Ben Jenner is able to do a knife for us and he just wasn't able to do that this year. And we really appreciate him doing it in years past and understanding that he can't do it this year. But but we're not giving Ben Jenner a shout-out this year since he Well, I think it just did, but that's all he gets no more, no more, no more. Because he is dead. But the No he makes really good knives, thank you, Ben. Oh, phenomenal. I have one of them. So anyway, when he said he couldn't do it, we were like, well, I I thought we we need to have a good raffle thing because that was one of the ways that we raised a lot of money last year because we were like we we were way below the goal. And then just the flurry of people trying to win that knife to buy a raffle ticket really.
SPEAKER_01So I'm hoping we had the same impact with this here. And so we were talking.
SPEAKER_00He mentioned the gun. He was like, You you ought to do a gun because guns really can generate now.
SPEAKER_01I mean especially with this group. Now this it was different because Ben Ben donated the knife. Yeah, it was a donation. And those are the best, obviously, 100% profit. Well, we've actually had to purchase this gun. Yeah. We've used we've used some money that was donated, so you know, it would have either gone to the ministry or tore a gift. Um the uh the gun was purchased at a pawn shop in Louisiana, and they actually sold it to us at cost, so it saved us saved a hundred dollars. Bought it at John's pawn shop, so it did actually save us $100, $120.
SPEAKER_02That's a good pawn shop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're Christian, good Christian people. Yeah, but anyways, so we're hoping it was pretty funny because when we pulled up, when we like I pulled up the gun, I said, hey, this is what we got. This is a really nice gun. Let's what do you think about this? And it was the same gun he was looking at. I'm like, all right, that's it. We're done. I mean, it was literally ordained. It's literally the exact same gun.
SPEAKER_00When he sent it to me, I was like, I'm looking at that one right now.
SPEAKER_01Like literally looking at it. So we're like, all right, let me check a couple different places. I was gonna see if we could get it 100% donated, but they were just they were kind enough to just sell it to us at their cost. Yeah. And so um I'm excited to see who wins that. I think it's gonna I think day of it should generate quite a bit of money.
SPEAKER_02I'd agree. I mean it did last year itself right now.
SPEAKER_01I'm really hoping, even possibly.
SPEAKER_02It's already paid for itself.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I'm really hoping I don't know if you want to do this or not, but maybe even leave it up for throughout the day for even um throughout the day. Just a walk up for even the public. Yeah. If the public wants to to donate, you know, I think it'd be good. It'd be something to ask them. I don't know if they'll do that or not, but uh we'll see. I don't know. Jared's got a number in his head. I don't know where we're at on that. I know we gotta we're close. We're getting there.
SPEAKER_00But we if we do what we did last year, we might make the goal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but so if we do better, we're is it okay for you to share the number for the last two years?
Rifle Raffle And Fundraising Strategy
SPEAKER_00So the number for the last two years, the first year I was like, Lord, what do we need to shoot for on this stuff? And so he was like, I feel like he he he told me he laid a number on my heart. 2,000 is probably something that's an achievable goal. Maybe it was more me. I don't know. Because he had different plans, he doubled that. So 4,000 the first year. First year. And so I was like, well, this year I got a little bit better. So I'm like, well, the number that was laid on my heart again may have probably been me. Setting a goal that was achievable. I was like, I'm just gonna do 4,000 again because we didn't have a golf course. I didn't even know we were gonna have it until late, and I was like, if we can just do what we did last year, we're doing great. Right. We raised 8,000. He doubled, God doubled it again. This year, the Lord laid 13,000 on my heart.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow.
SPEAKER_00Of course, all the stuff came up in my life, and after that number was laid on my heart, but I still I don't know whether he'll double it this year, but we're getting pretty close to hitting that goal.
SPEAKER_01That's a I mean that's a great goal.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And and that being said, what people need to realize the scramble itself, like the cost of the team, is $320 per team, right? $80 a person. You're making $20 a person. $20 a person.
SPEAKER_00So if we've got actually giving back to the people because they actually get two uh tickets towards the raffle, which they're $10 each, the tickets for the the gun. So I'm giving them putting two in the pot just for being in the tournament. So that they're just required, I guess, to make a $20 donation, but they get something for it. I didn't want to.
SPEAKER_01So basically, there's not like just the turn, because we're like as of right now, there's eight teams, nine teams.
SPEAKER_02I'm thinking about nine. Eight, eight teams. Does that include Uncle Danny and Uncle Joe? No, nine with them.
SPEAKER_01No, that's 32, that's only 32 players. Yeah. So that's only 600, a little over $600 that it's bringing in with just the scramble itself. So you gotta realize if we hit $10,000 or $12,000, whatever, if whatever that is, that's all literally people donating money. Sponsors, sponsors giving money. Whole sponsorships has been awesome. Fantastic. Uh, you know, I wish you had your list. I got them all. You got your list. If you want to read them off, you can.
SPEAKER_02Well, and whenever we at the end of this, I'll have them read all the sponsors on the sponsorship, whole sponsorship's been huge.
SPEAKER_01Like you said, Brandon Hale went over and beyond. And God's blessing. I mean, there's no there's no reason I say this, I don't say this lightly. There's no reason why he duck shouldn't do that or can't do that. Um it's because he's learned give and God just pours it back. And there's a lot of people that's giving. And so um, but there's he Jared did different levels of sponsorships this year um for different amounts that you want to give. But there's just been people that have like no connection at all, other than just maybe knowing Jared or knowing somebody in the church, or maybe no connection at all, that has donated. And so we'll let him do that list when we get ready. But it's it's been a great phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02I know I had an opportunity to go overseas for a trip that I was kind of needy to go on, but I found I was gonna get on this and I was like, I'm not missing this. This this event is one of my favorite events of the year. I love this golf tournament. I've only been the first the second year. This is my second year getting to do it, but it's so much fun to be
Goals Pricing And Where Money Comes From
SPEAKER_02here. If y'all are out there listening to this podcast and y'all play golf, and y'all it's a phenomenal event. It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun. It gives to the ministry, and it is so much fun.
SPEAKER_00So June 26. Friday, June. Meals provided.
SPEAKER_02Friday, June 26th.
SPEAKER_01Lunches provided. And the lunch is actually really good. It was really good. The food did a really good job.
SPEAKER_00The the grill there, they do um hamburgers. We're gonna have hamburgers again. They do a really good job. Meat's really good there. Yeah, it's not just it's not just regular ground beef, it's it's good ground beef.
SPEAKER_02So before we go to the list, because we'll end with that, what is new this year that was not like last year?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I mentioned the perpetual trophy. Um, I don't think I've got anything new other than just the trophy. We're still doing prize money the same way we did last year. We're uh we got about the same amount of teams doing the same food, same golf course. There's a lot of similarities to last year.
SPEAKER_01I think one thing that might could boost it, maybe I don't know what's for how much is first place? It's four hundred dollars. Four hundred for first place. So basically you get your prize money back and gas money. Plus a little bit. Plus a little bit. So uh first place gets 400, second place. Uh you remember? I don't have it.
SPEAKER_00I don't have it on it should be something like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I think like we're fixed, we're actually gonna go to FGT's tournament on Saturday. Yeah. Um they do like a 600 first place, 400, second place. Another phenomenal and I think if we can boost that, it's it's step in faith. Yeah, because that's pure money out of your pocket. Yeah. Um, but I think if you could increase that even in the middle of the case, I mean I've thought about doing that.
SPEAKER_00I just the primary focus is to give the money to the ministry.
SPEAKER_01And I think most of the people that's there, that's what they're there for.
SPEAKER_02Like I know y'all's team, y'all was gonna give the money back if y'all want, I remember.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, expensive something. I think day of the tournament last year, between what I lost to Brandon, what it cost me to pay, mulligans and throws. You about had a sponsorship. I think I spent, I think I spent, plus I did a sponsorship. I think I spent probably five or six hundred dollars a day of, you know, and that's what Jared said. He like he looked over people just throwing hundred dollar bills down, you know, and so it it's just not everybody realizes the impact that they're having for the missions. Exactly. Yeah. Uh brother Danny will be there this year. Yeah, and he's actually golfing the show. Did you able to get a big check, a cardboard check? I was gonna order one and I did not get one. I wonder if we could find one. I wonder if Poppy Lobby'd have one. Try.
SPEAKER_02And then something else we're gonna do is uh I found at Dunham's, they have the exploding golf balls at Dunham's.
SPEAKER_01I tried them last year. They were no good? It was uneventful.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna get a couple just to do, just to have them, but I found some online, but they wouldn't come in until Saturday.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I brought some last year and it was it it was uneventful.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's we can talk about it later, but there's a place in town that may be able to make that. I looked for one online because you can usually get them a little bit cheaper doing that. But that would be fun. That'd be something awesome. We were planning to do it, uh we were planning a July trip, but then stuff happened in my life. We were gonna go present it to uh God's little one and take that with us. So I was looking at it in that point in time, but then like I said, life happened.
SPEAKER_01If it if it works, not it's just kind of neat when you take that picture and get the picture with you know you and Danny and Joey and you know those guys, the main guys over that group, and present it to him. I just think it always looks pretty neat to give them that big check, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And this is an event like my uncle Joey's there, my uncle Danny's there, I'm there. Pretty much everybody with the saying Godzilla one is there.
SPEAKER_01A lot of representation there, so it's gonna be it's gonna be really good.
SPEAKER_02We like this event that much. Yeah, it's fun.
Weather Plan And Rain Policy
SPEAKER_02It's so good.
SPEAKER_01And you know, last week, and we're praying, we're praying the weather holds off. Last week we were looking at the weather and it was 80%. It's actually raining outside right now, but it was eighty percent of thunderstorms all week, and each day we get closer and closer and closer. That rain has been like 35.
SPEAKER_00And now it's at like now it's at like 20. Well, I said 50. I'll go with 20. We'll do that. But it has been going down, and we're gonna go to the show. And it looks like it's gonna be the evening, so yeah. May catch a shower.
SPEAKER_02Um, it that'll just cool the competition down. Yeah, it'll just make it to where you don't get as hot.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot. Yeah, it was so hot last year.
SPEAKER_02Oh my word, it was so bad. I feel like with the weather we have been having it's gonna be cooler this year. But right now it's showing at least overcast. Right now it's showing.
SPEAKER_01Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think it's going to strange that. I've had people ask me, and that this is a good place to put this out on the podcast. People have been asking me if we're gonna if what happens if rain. I'm not gonna call this thing off unless I absolutely have to, unless there's lightning out there and there's danger to somebody's life, or the course says it's too wet, we don't want you guys on it. I think it's gonna be the base of the course shutting us down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That would be it. I mean, at this point, everybody's paid. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't want to have sorry, no refunds. I mean, I've played high school golf and and pouring now. You can play in the rain.
SPEAKER_01You can play in the rain. You can fish in the rain, you can play in the rain. Right.
SPEAKER_00So that's the plan. Anyway.
SPEAKER_02Well, we'll go ahead. We just wanted to do a quick podcast just to talk about the uh what's coming up. We're excited about it, and we'll do some talking about it once it's done and stuff. But
Sponsor Shoutouts And How To Join
SPEAKER_02Jared, to end this, I want you to go ahead and these are all the everybody who's giving money, these are all the sponsors. Thank you to everybody. We encourage y'all to support these mission uh these businesses and stuff, and you can go ahead and name those off.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Alright, well, we did platinum on uh platinum sponsorships this year, as Johnny said. So we had people that uh donated um or sponsored three or more holes, uh which is a $500 sponsorship. $450. So it's $150 a hole. So Tamara Holmes was one of those. Um Sanderson Real Estate. Yeah, she's with she's with Sanderson and Associates. She did it personally as her as a realtor. And then um Jonathan did JS Roofing, DPH Plumbing, Genesis 1.3 Electric. Um, and that was all, or no, Southpaw, Southpaw, USA, David Holden's uh business. Um they did more than just the platinum sponsorship, but they did platinum sponsorship plus.
SPEAKER_01Shout out, shout out to them. I'll I'll I'll tell. Yeah. Um David Beckett works for Southpaw. Um they know ministry.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01His dad, Paul Holden, painted where McKenzie just got married, showed up and painted that whole new building, didn't charge him a dime. So they they know the value of ministry. And so shout out to Dave and Jeannie Holden, Southpaw. Um they donated a thousand dollars to these missions. And uh that's you know, it all adds up, but when you get that chunk, that big chunk, it really helps. So extra shout out to them.

SPEAKER_00It's right around our camp meeting is generally gonna be around the last couple of weeks of June, maybe the first week of July. I think we've pretty much decided the last week in June. So if you want to kind of plan ahead, try to plan for that last week in June and do some can continuity.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna be talking to uh Smitty too about seeing if he'll do like a three-day turkey hunt for a raffle.
SPEAKER_02That would be a good raffle right there. I would put $500 in for that raffle, but yeah. And uh for whoever is interested in this. I'll hold you to that. Uh my equipment is uh to end this, we're gonna have to do this without my recorder. All my stuff just shut down. So it's a great event. If y'all want to find out more about it, y'all can go on the meeting in the middle of the fairway, golf tournament Facebook page. And all the all the leaders there, thank y'all for giving me all this time, and we'll see y'all on the fairway.
SPEAKER_03Thanks.

A Real Talk On Cheerful Giving
SPEAKER_02said something that really caught my attention that I really liked. And this golf tournament is the same week as their revival or their camp meeting, which is meeting in the middle, and it's a phenomenal camp meeting, and this is like after that happens. So Jared Carroll he said along the lines of God has blessed them in that camp meeting and has touched them and moved in their lives, that the golf tournament was a way for them to give back to God. And you know, we are called to be givers in this life. We are called to give, whether that's our money or our time or whatever, we are called to give and to support and to work for the kingdom. And one of the ways we work for the kingdom is through our finances and through our support and through our help. And I'm not trying to get y'all specifically to support God's little one when I say this. I we we appreciate the support, we're thankful for the support and we need it, but that's not why I'm saying this. I'm just wanting to encourage us to do what God has called us to do, whether that's to God's little one or another organization or to a church or to uh a group or to just one person on the street. I just want to encourage you to give. There's a verse in the Bible, uh, 2 Corinthians 9, 7, says, Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loveth a cheerful giver. God wants us to be cheerful givers. He loves a cheerful giver. It pleases God when we give. And how can we not give after God has done so much for us, after he has moved in our lives in mighty ways and powerful ways, after he's touched us time and time again? How can we not desire to give back to God? And one of the ways is through our finances, it's through our time, it's through helping somebody out on the street, it's through going on a mission trip, it's through obeying God's will. So I just want to encourage y'all to obey God, to do whatever he calls you to do, and be a cheerful giver of your time, but also a cheerful giver of your finances. That verse talks about being a cheerful giver. It says not to give grudgingly or of necessity. When it says grudgingly, it's talking about being like not being mad that you've got to give or not having a bad attitude about it. We should be thankful that we we get the opportunity to give. That God has blessed us enough to give to somebody else and to give back to God. And then it says, or of necessity, and when it says that, it's talking about giving, but not giving to the point to where we can't survive and we can't provide for our families. I'm not trying to get y'all to give your last red cent. Now, there's times God may ask you to do that, but I'm not telling you to do that. All I'm doing is encouraging us to be givers. If you have the extra, give. That's what we're called to do, is to be givers and not just hoarders for ourselves. There's a there's a song that I listened to that it says, um, I don't want to leave here with regrets. I want to leave with nothing left. And that's the goal. It's not to build up treasures here on earth, but to build up treasures in heaven. And one of the ways we build up treasures in heaven is giving what God has given us. And I'm not telling you to give till you can't survive. I'm just encouraging you, if God leads you to give, however much, whatever it is, whether it's finances or your time, I encourage you to obey God and give. Because I promise you, He will bless you for your giving.
Pranks Results Next Trip And Farewell
SPEAKER_02Well, thank you for listening to this episode of the God's With On Podcast. We hope you enjoyed it. This is a really fun episode. It's it's a little different, but we enjoyed it. We did it last year and really was really was fun. This golf tournament is a really fun opportunity to be able to give back to God, as I've said, and and it's a really, really fun time. And to give you all a little bit of uh stories for this specific golf tournament like we did last time, uh, we raised a lot of money. I don't have the exact number. Let me actually get on my phone real quick and I can get the exact uh numbers and stuff for it. But it was a really fun golf tournament. Uh one funny thing that happened, we live streamed it. And on the live stream, we talked about doing it last year. We wanted to do a prank with an exploding golf ball. Well, we didn't get to do it a lot, but we was able to pull off one time this that prank of switching out golf golf balls with an exploding golf ball. We did it to Brother Joey Sweeney, and I'm just gonna tell you, it was so much fun to be able to do. We had a good time. He was clueless to it. Me and Brother Danny helped me, and it was flawless. So it was really fun. I'm trying to get on the Facebook for meeting in the middle of the fairway. Uh I'm getting on it right now. Here we go. And this has got all the information for it. If I can just find it. There we go. Yeah, we're here. Sorry. So we raised, I think it was, we raised $10,000 for God's Little One. That was amazing. It this this golf tournament, every year it just elevates. And I just want to say to every single person who gave, every single person who played, and every single person who was a part of this, whether it was working or whatever it was, and to the golf course, thank you for all of your work. Thank you for all of your support. We really do appreciate it. God's little one wouldn't be where it's at without y'all. And for everybody else who has given in the past, I just want to come on here real quick and just say thank you for all of your support throughout the years. God's little one truly wouldn't be who it is and where it is without every person who has supported, who's gone on trips, and who has helped in this ministry. Well, in our next podcast, we actually, this is gonna be a fun podcast. So the day of me posting this podcast, I actually got back yesterday from a missions trip, and it was actually our very first women's conference. It was a really fun trip, really exciting, and we're gonna be doing a podcast about that trip. So that's what the next podcast will be. It'll be Brother Jonathan Schmid, which y'all have actually heard the last two podcasts. So y'all are gonna hear a little bit more of him, and then his wife, Shelly Schmidt, and then Sister Betty Sweeney, which y'all have heard on this podcast before. She is the wife of the founder, and she got to go on this trip. And I'm just gonna tell y'all it was such a powerful trip. God moved in a mighty, mighty way, and we're just gonna come and talk about it. It's gonna be fun, it's gonna be exciting, and y'all are gonna hear some good stories of the trip. So stay tuned for that. But anyway, that's this that's it for this episode of the Gods Alone podcast. We hope y'all enjoyed. Please uh download the podcast and follow it. Subscribe to our YouTube channel, and thank you for all y'all's support. God bless y'all, and I'll see y'all on the next podcast.
