GLO Podcast Season 1 Episode 14

If you hav want questions. Let us know and maybe they will show up on a future podcast.

Jared Carroll shares the vision behind "Meeting in the Middle of the Fairway," a golf tournament fundraiser supporting God's Little One ministry following Victory Assembly's annual camp meeting. We explore how this four-man scramble tournament has grown from year one to year two despite significant planning challenges.

• The event intentionally follows camp meeting
• God's provision manifested through overcoming obstacles like securing a golf course just two months before the event
• Support extends beyond church members to local businesses and individuals
• First, second, and third place teams receive cash prizes donated by sponsors
• The tournament demonstrates how recreational events can support global mission work

If God is telling you to support missions work, whether through financial giving or other means, do it with a joyful heart. The Great Commission calls all believers to participate in spreading the gospel throughout the world.

Speaker 1:

Hey everybody, welcome back to the God's Little One podcast. I'm your host, kit, and today I am not in the studio as I usually am. I am actually in Siloam Springs, arkansas. I'm here for a week came here Monday At the time this is being recorded. This is a Tuesday of whenever we're in Arkansas. I'm actually here for a camp meeting, a meeting in the middle in Silent Springs, arkansas, and we got some exciting going on at the end of the week We'll be talking about today. But I am joined by a very special guest. We are going to be talking to Jared Carroll. He's from Gentry, arkansas, and he goes to Victory Assembly of God, which is hosting this camp meeting, and thank you for being here today.

Speaker 2:

Thanks, kent, appreciate you inviting me.

Speaker 1:

So this is going to be a really fun episode. This is going to be something we have not really talked about before, and the purpose of this podcast is to talk about a golf tournament called Meeting in the Middle of the Fairway. This was started by you.

Speaker 2:

You had this idea and yeah, the Lord laid it on my heart. Um, I've been attending here for about three years, I believe, um at victory assembly, and so this is my third uh camp meeting now. But uh, last year the Lord started laying on my heart because revival starts in the mirror. So in preparation you need to prepare your heart for revival, but revival leading up into it it's not just for us to have blessings on ourself or let the Lord touch just us, but he pours into us and we're supposed to be vessels to pour out.

Speaker 2:

And the Lord started dealing with my heart in preparation for a camp meeting last year that we should be doing more. I should be doing more to let myself be a vessel, to get what God has done for me in camp meeting out and be a blessing to others Right.

Speaker 1:

So explain what meeting in the middle of the fairway is. I know I kind of I kind of said, but explain what it is exactly.

Speaker 2:

So it's a golf tournament. Um, that's supporting God's little one. Um, when God laid this on my heart, I felt like he wanted us to do a golf tournament. That's just something that came to my heart and to my mind, and when we were discussing what ministry to support, I had several that people had talked about or whatever. I'd asked several people Jonathan Schmid was one of the guys that I asked about it and he had mentioned God's little one and I knew somewhat about that.

Speaker 2:

But asking Jonathan really about it and researching things and praying about it and asking God what he wanted us to do, he really laid God's little one on my heart and that was the ministry that I just I could not get away from that. That. That's where God wanted us to put that support for this ministry into. Yeah, so, uh, we're just going to play a golf tournament and it's just really a good time of fellowship where we're going to spend time with each other just like we do at camp meeting. It's a great time for that, but it's a great time in the Lord, so it's a great time to support the ministry and do all of that. So we'll be out there on the golf course. It's going to be hot.

Speaker 2:

It's going to be actually the coolest day of the week. Oh, that's a good thing. I think they're showing like 87, the high on the day of the tournament on Friday.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So we're thankful for that. I've been praying that the rain would stay away and that it'd be the coolest day and hear the Lord's provided. So we're thankful for that.

Speaker 1:

So it's really cool the way they got this set up for timing. So the camp meeting started Sunday, right?

Speaker 2:

Did you all start Sunday night.

Speaker 1:

Started Sunday goes till Thursday night, correct? And the golf tournament is Friday, so it's the very next day after the camp meeting ends, and it's really cool timing.

Speaker 2:

That's really like I said, that was my burden. It's supposed to be after the camp meeting so that we can take what we have been given, the touch that the lord has given in our lives, and be able to let that, let ourselves be a vessel to get that out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and so yeah, it's a really cool, really cool kind of fundraiser to get money for god's little one. This is the second year y'all have done it. Y'all did it last year. Yes, I wasn't able toall did it last year. Yes, I wasn't able to be a part last year, but I'm able to be there. I'm going to be videoing flying a drone and stuff. Maybe next year I'll be playing, we'll see. That'd be great. So let's get into details about the golf tournament. So how does it work exactly?

Speaker 2:

So we have hole sponsorships available. We've actually gotten more than there's 18 holes on a golf course and so we've actually gotten more sponsors this year um than those 18 holes. So, um, we've done. Uh, god's really blessed the, the ministry on that front and our mission basically and so we are going to be playing 18 holes and just having fun in the Lord out there so how many sponsors do y'all have exactly?

Speaker 2:

so I believe we actually have 15, but we had since we got 18 holes. We had people that actually gave more people yeah than just one hole. They wanted to sponsor multiple holes and we had some people that um wanted to just give to the ministry. So we I've not gotten exact numbers because there's still some out that- we haven't gotten paid and there's a couple of people that wanted to play now yeah um, here at the last um.

Speaker 2:

So we're working them in and everything, but don't have final numbers, but we're looking like we're going to do better than we did last year, which was four thousand dollars. So praise the lord for that amen we are so happy for that and thankful for the Lord providing, because this year I felt like that we were challenged more than we ever have been before, Well being our second year yeah.

Speaker 2:

But last year really went smoothly and it over-exceeded my expectations because I had set a goal of $2,000, and God doubled the goal that I had set. This year I set a lofty goal of $8,000, but I don't think we're going to hit that. But God has definitely provided in His timing. This year I was not able to find a course. Yeah, when, when I set out to do it, when I knew the dates of the camp meeting, I knew that we were going to try to do it at the end of the camp meeting.

Speaker 2:

I wanted to try to get that saturday right and we were not able to get that. We ended up having to do it on friday, which has worked out great, but I just felt like that we were fought tooth and nail and I just laid it before the Lord and I said, god, you know I'm stressed out about this. This is something you laid on my heart to do. Yeah, and it's just not coming to pass this year. Yeah, and I don't have a course yet. Can you please help in this? And, like god, lets you get sometimes to the bottom where you're really stressed out and like a, it was two months before camp meeting that we actually nailed down a golf tournament or a golf course for the tournament.

Speaker 2:

um, so and what he definitely yeah, it's a very nice course and, uh, a lot of the guys here at the church that were going to be playing in it they suggested it and it just so happened that it was open on that day, so it really worked out. Yeah, and there's a lot of extra benefits with that. They have a really nice grill there that has, um, they're going to be providing food with that, which they're not super expensive, and I've been told they're really good. I've tried it myself, but they said the grill is really affordable and really good and they're really helping us on that. So, um, like I said, god provided. Yeah, at the end of this thing, we had to be stressed for a little while, but God has provided whole sponsors, raffle items and things. People have really gone above and beyond to support the ministry and I'm thankful for that and thankful for God's provision. He doesn't promise us that everything's going to go smooth but, sometimes the things that we find adversity for.

Speaker 2:

We know that the devil's fighting them because they're successful and he doesn't want that to happen. So I'm just thankful that we could stir him up a little bit.

Speaker 1:

I guess. So getting into how the gameplay works and stuff, how many teams do you all have?

Speaker 2:

So right now we have 12 set teams. So that, yeah, 12. We had nine last year.

Speaker 1:

So we've grown it from last year.

Speaker 2:

That's a praise report on that, and more to come, maybe, and more to come. We've got several people that are wanting to steal a play um, so we're just praying that the lord provides on that right.

Speaker 1:

We're expecting great things so it's a four-man scramble, so explain how it's all going to work and like the gameplay okay yeah.

Speaker 2:

so four-man scramble is basically um, for those of you that don't know golf, in golf you're going to play par 4s, par 5s, par 3 courses. Par is how many strokes you have to get in the hole.

Speaker 1:

A scramble is basically everybody plays the best shot, so you're going to hit your shot and then hit whoever plays the best to get the best score, like whichever player in the team has the best hit, everybody will go off that.

Speaker 2:

Exactly, yeah. So there's people that you know last year. I know, uh, kyle pinalto. He uh, actually that was the first time he's ever played golf. Before he played in the tournament and it's a great opportunity, if you haven't played before, to come out, because a scramble is a great format, oh yeah, because you just get to carry it, yeah, hit the best shot, so, yeah. So it's a great format for that. But he's really like, embraced the game and really loves the game. So if you've never tried golf, it's a good time to get an introduction to the game and maybe you'll love it as much as Kyle.

Speaker 1:

I've seen people do it, but I've never done it personally, but it's a really cool way to play golf. So how is it like? Because I know you've got so many teams, how are you all doing when they play and stuff?

Speaker 2:

So they're going to start us off on a shotgun start, so that basically means everybody's going to start on their own hole. I believe the pro told us that he was going to start us on hole 12 on through 18 or whatever that would be to get back to the 12. He said he was going to the 12 teams so that we could run through the first T, so that they can, you know, bring in people behind.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so they can keep the place open.

Speaker 2:

Keep the place open and be able to do that, which is cool. So as long as we get through there and everything and we're able to finish up, yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 1:

So let's go back to the first year because, like we said, this is the second year. Talk about the process of getting it all started and stuff.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Well, you know, the Lord laid it on my heart and it's definitely a couple of stressful months trying to get sponsors together and everything. But being a realtor really helps in this town because I know a lot of people that are really good people, really a lot of givers out there, so the Lord has provided me with contacts to be able to do that. But then also this church right here, Victory Assembly, is a very giving church and so there's a lot of business owners in our church that have given selflessly and helped provide for the ministry and the vision that I had for this golf tournament. So God's provided and I'm thankful for the opportunity and where he's placed me and I just want to bloom where he's placed me to do that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I just did some math and I want to put this into perspective of how many people there is that is helping support this. In a minimum, you've got 12 teams, right, 12 teams.

Speaker 2:

Four people on a team. Four people on a team.

Speaker 1:

That's 48 people playing on this tournament. That's awesome. Yeah, that's awesome, that's 48, plus we know three people who are wanting to play at least.

Speaker 2:

Three more people, and then we're going to have a couple of volunteers, several volunteers. I think there's going to be four or five people that are going to help, and then there's also some players that offered help and you know, I've got people. You know I can't do this alone, so I have to, yeah, call on people to help, yeah, and also to advise. You know people that know the game and everything. Yeah, know the people that are going to play in it. Right, I've got people that I can throw ideas off jonathan, and this is one of those people, the guy who forgot the clubs yeah, forgot his clubs this year.

Speaker 2:

So I'm going to rag him a little bit on that.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to let you finish what you're saying and then I want to talk about that. He can get mad at me. He can stop listening. I don't care what you're talking about. Anyway, continue what you're saying.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, Jonathan and Brian Harmon and Corey Osborne and Nate Osborne, they've been a real help to me to kind of throw ideas off of what would you think in this situation, Because in something that takes this big. There's people that help you. There's people that are good people for information purposes and informants of what is best. So it's great to have people like that that you can throw ideas off of and can advise you.

Speaker 1:

So to talk about Johnny, so I'm going to tell this because I was involved with this, so I don't know if he forgot. Did he forget his golf clubs or did he just plan on someone bringing?

Speaker 2:

them. From what he told me, he forgot his golf clubs and then his idea was to call sister beckett yes, which we was we left.

Speaker 1:

So we me, my mom, my brother, uh, his girlfriend and my mom or my grandma we all left monday to come up here. Well, my brother actually he ain't playing in the tournament, but he brought his golf clubs to just go play around with. Well, we got a call from Uncle Jonathan later on in the day when we had already left, asking or I called my grandma asking if we could bring his golf clubs. We had already left, so he don't have his clubs here and he's supposed to be playing in the tournament. So he's got to figure something out.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and he's playing on my team too, uh-oh.

Speaker 1:

Well, you might be down a player.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I told him. I said I don't know what you're going to do about your clubs, but you know We'll go to Academy and go buy them.

Speaker 1:

We'll figure something out. We'll go buy them the little kids, $20 maybe.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, that would make it entertaining.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, so, johnny, if you're listening, I know. If y'all don't know who we're talking about when we say John, that's Jonathan Schmid. We talked to him in a podcast, him and my dad, richard Sweeney, in a podcast. If you remember that podcast, then you know why we kind of are trying to make fun of him.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, you know.

Speaker 1:

You gotta. Or trying to make fun of him, oh yeah, you know you gotta. You gotta take every opportunity. Jonathan, oh yeah, he won't miss it with you. He will not. He will not. So, uh, to get in the golf tournament.

Speaker 2:

You talked about doing raffles and stuff, so let's talk about that a little bit. So we had several people do donations. Um, we got about as much as we did last year. Um, that was one of the other areas with. We had a hell storm here and, yeah, being a property manager and realtor, um I was really like that's another area that the devil kind of fought me in like keeping me busy where I couldn't go around and do as much.

Speaker 2:

But we have awesome people that you know stepped out and did raffle items and uh, so we've got several. Uh, ben jennings is one that I'd like to mention by name um, because he made a knife for the is that for the raffle?

Speaker 1:

yes, I'm getting in that raffle. Yeah, that knife is sick.

Speaker 2:

It is awesome, and he donated one last year and I know that he sells those things for a lot of money.

Speaker 1:

If it's the same guy he made my dad a knife, and it ain't cheap, yeah and it's a very nice knife and it actually has the God's Little One logo etched on it. It's so cool.

Speaker 2:

He's awesome, and so I want to thank him for doing that. I wanted to get a video of him to post on the Facebook page and hopefully I may be able to get it this week, but maybe after the tournament if I can't get it before. But I just want to do a shout-out to him.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

You know there's lots of people that gave raffle items and I'm grateful to them too, because that helps People buying raffle tickets, extra tickets to win that yeah, that's just straight money to the ministry.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's going all to the ministry.

Speaker 2:

That's awesome, so it goes all to that, so them donating that so that we can get more raffle tickets sold and more money to the ministry is definitely a blessing.

Speaker 1:

So how much is a raffle ticket?

Speaker 2:

So it's $5. Okay.

Speaker 1:

So I need $100?.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, yeah, I'm joking.

Speaker 1:

Well, you're going to have to get more.

Speaker 2:

You're going to have to get more because I've heard other people are like trying to go for that knife.

Speaker 1:

It's so cool.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so they're trying to buy up some raffle tickets and try to get that knife. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's so cool. I'm not playing golf at this tournament. I'm not that good. Maybe next year maybe, but I'm not playing in this tournament. I'm taking pictures and videos and I'm actually flying a drone around. So we will, on our YouTube channel the guys that won Honduras Mission's YouTube channel have a video of this stuff and I'm going to try and get a picture with the winner of that knife. I don't know who's going to win it, but we'll find out and I'm gonna get a picture with them so you'll be able to see the mutton, be able to see the knife. It is so cool. Like I don't know how he got, how he did that logo in the, in the blade, but the blade, like you said, he has the god's little one logo. It's so cool I love it.

Speaker 2:

It's fantastic.

Speaker 1:

Blake sent it to me I was in church and he sent it to me.

Speaker 2:

It was so cool yeah, I may do a video of it and just show everybody the logo and post it on the facebook page that we got. But um also on the raffle tickets. To kind of go back to that, I do have um just to incentivize trying to get more raffle tickets. We're gonna do like a four by four, get one free raffle ticket, so that even incentivizes it even more to go ahead and give a little might as well yeah, yeah, just dig a little deeper dig a little deeper and we'll, uh, deeper, and it's a donation to the ministry and a better chance to win that.

Speaker 2:

now For some of the other items we got a lure that was donated by Mike Garrett. We got a couple of $25 gift cards that was donated by Jordan Smithson State Farm. We've got a soft cooler that was given by Alex Taylor, around the corner from me in the Edward Jones office. We've got a $50 Olive Garden gift card that was given by another realtor in a town here.

Speaker 1:

I'll take that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah and $50 gift card from Gentry. Ace Hardware and Lowe's gave a couple of bags, so we got a lot of cool items that were given away.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's really cool. It's really good, it's really cool, and I don't know how many tickets y'all have sold, but I'm definitely probably going to at least buy it. I'm at least probably going to get the, get the five well, somebody's already said give me sixty dollars worth of tickets.

Speaker 2:

So I'm just putting that out there.

Speaker 1:

I don't think I'm gonna get that far, but I'm definitely gonna get a couple because that knife looks so cool. I didn't know if it. I didn't know because I had mean, I should. I talked to johnny but I didn't know if it was like for the winner of the golf tournament or if it was in the raffle. But now, since I know it's in the raffle, I'm getting in the raffle. Yeah, 100 getting in the raffle. So do y'all have like something for the winner or what are y'all doing for that?

Speaker 2:

so we do um colin loper, um with platinum structures, is giving all of the money um for the, the winners we're just going to cash out.

Speaker 1:

I'll take me a little cash, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So we're doing $100 for each person in the winner and then we're doing $50 for second place all the second place players and then $35 for the third place so if you make podiums, you get something.

Speaker 1:

You get something, you get some cash, and so that's what we're going to do on that, yeah, but it's just such a cool event to support the mission with. It's just such a cool way to do it. I just really like it.

Speaker 2:

It's so fun. Golf is a great game and the fellowship that we had last year it was just yeah, like I, I love that. And there was a gentleman, tim dozier, last year. He's like we need to do this twice a year. So he played it, played in a friend of gary mitchell's and he was like let's do it two years, two times. I said, brother, that's a lot of work. I think I'm going to stick to one time a year because it's quite a bit of work to get it done, but it is so fun.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it is. It's so cool. Like I said, I didn't get to be a part of it last year, but I've seen pictures and stuff and I know it's going, this whole event well, I mean it's got to be being able to raise money for the missions.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, work, I mean that's what it's all about, that's what the lord laid on my heart. So that is the best part of to be able to do a work that will continue, a work that God can touch people's lives. So that's going to be number one. The second thing, the fellowship. I mean that's one of the great things about camp meeting is there's a lot of people from all over the country meeting in the middle here, and so we're going to be meeting in the middle of the fairway after the meeting in the middle, yeah, here, and so we're going to be meeting in the middle of the fairway, yeah, after the meeting in the middle yeah the church, so the fellowship is like one of the coolest things.

Speaker 2:

But also seeing how the community here yeah, and this year we've actually extended it out there's some people that are not actually in our community of Asylum Springs, but there's people that are expanding out and they're starting to donate to the ministry. So I just can't wait to see how God grows this and as we get more people playing in it from all over the country and wanting to support God's little one, and seeing sponsors step out and say, yeah, I want to be a part of that, I want to give to this ministry because I believe in it. So I want them to be as passionate about it as I am and I know you are about God's little one, so that's definitely another cool thing about the tournament.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I'm going to ask this. I just thought about this. I'm going to ask. So who won last year?

Speaker 2:

Well, corey Osborne, nate Osborne and Carl Clark.

Speaker 1:

Master Carl here.

Speaker 2:

Oh, my word Won last year on a scorecard. I'm gonna make the caveat and put the asterisk by that, because a scorecard is basically you take what the course deems the hardest hole on the course yeah and you find out who got the best score from that course. So you go from the first hardest the second hardest. I think it was like the third hardest hole that decided it like we had, so it was like tied up it was tied up it was nine under.

Speaker 2:

Nine under is the score nine under par um. So that's what won it last year. I don't know what won it this year. I'm kind of thinking if more people buy mulligans and throws and all that kind of stuff, we might be able to get 13 under this year. 12 to 13 is kind of thinking. If more people buy mulligans and throws and all that kind of stuff, we might be able to get 13 under this year.

Speaker 2:

12 to 13 is kind of what I'm thinking, but we'll see how it turns out at the end. We'll see who's going to win it. But I know, carl, we kind of busted up our team this year.

Speaker 1:

Was you on that team last year? I was on the team last year.

Speaker 2:

And Jonathan had helped me so much. Actually, david Beckett asked me to play with his team this year, and so he had done that, and I said whoever wants me to play with them, whoever asked me first Corey was the one that asked me last- year. And so David Beckett, before we got away from the course last year, he said, hey, bud, you're on our team next year. So I said, okay, so that's what we did and that kind of busted up the team. So we're not defending the title, but Carl's going for it.

Speaker 1:

Oh, he's definitely going for it.

Speaker 2:

He's pulling in some players from around so they're going to be hard to beat. Definitely going for it. He's pulling in some players from around, so they're going to be hard to beat.

Speaker 1:

So you got any like fun memories from last year, like just like funny, like Johnny forgetting his golf clubs, you got anything like that or just like some fun stuff you remember from last year.

Speaker 2:

Well, I don't really remember anything that was as funny as Johnny leaving his clubs, remember anything that was as funny as johnny living with clubs. But I just remember like, um, you know, I guess probably the funniest thing would probably be me trying to, uh, trying to organize a golf tournament, because I am not the uh, I get kind of scatterbrained, I guess, when, when things get a little frazzled or whatever I kept forgetting to do certain things and all that.

Speaker 2:

So I guess that was probably one of the funniest things that happened last year. But, um, I know, uh, gary photobombed the winners, gary mitchell being gary mitchell photobombing the winners when we did the um, the picture, yeah, so yeah, well, I know it's going to be fun friday.

Speaker 1:

I'm looking forward to it. And uh, are we going for? Are y'all going for a year three?

Speaker 2:

yes, so we will be doing it next year, lord willing. That is the plan. Yeah, so I want to make it an annual event.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And even with all of the adversity that we faced this year, that gives me more steam to keep on going for next year and you learn from it and we learn from it. Yeah, exactly. So we're gonna try to nail down a date. Yeah, a little bit sooner. Yeah, get a course. If they'll take this year, I'm gonna go ahead and start this year getting the course for next year are you gonna try the same course or?

Speaker 2:

um, I'm gonna kind of take that under advisement and ask my my yeah guys and ask people that are playing in the tournament how did that work out that that location for my guys and ask people that are playing in the tournament how did that work out that location for you guys, and would you want it here next year and try to get some feedback on it, because we want to make it the most successful that we possibly can, and so I'll take that under advisement and we'll decide.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to ask you a little bit more. What would you say and this is a question I ask all the time on the podcast if y'all have ever listened to another episode. Y'all have heard me use this some way or another. What would you say to someone who doesn't believe in supporting missions?

Speaker 2:

Well, the Bible says the Great Commission, go into all the world and preach the gospel Right, that is what Jesus commanded us to do. It's not just a request, it is a command.

Speaker 1:

It's the Great Commission.

Speaker 2:

And it is to all believers to do that, and so if he commanded it, I'm going to do it. Yeah, so if anybody says that missions is not important, that would be my statement to them is it is a command of the Lord and we should support those who have gone out. We should do that ourselves. If we have the opportunity and the wherewithal to go on a mission strip, then we should do that ourselves. If we have the opportunity and the wherewithal to go on a mission strip, then we should do that. I'm looking forward to going down to Honduras at some point.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to you going.

Speaker 2:

That's something that I would love to do. So, yeah, that would be my statement to anyone that said that missions is not important. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to give you time here. We're getting to the end of this podcast. I'm going to give you time to if you've got anything you want to say about the tournament that I haven't asked you, things you want to explain or anything like that feel free to. If there's anything you want to say about missions, or if there's whatever you want to say, this is your time to do it, so take your time.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. Well, the one thing that I would like to draw everybody's attention to is the Facebook page.

Speaker 1:

I was going to talk to you about that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so that's the way you keep in contact with us. It's a little bit harder to find because there were other Facebook pages that had, surprisingly, meeting in the middle, so it's a little bit harder to find it. But if you want to look me up, you'll see that, like Jared Carroll, it's C-A-R-R-E-L-L is my last name. Most of you guys may follow Haley or Jonathan. I'm friends with him, so if you can find my page, I'll have posted things on there from I will have shared from that page. So it will help you find it a little bit better, right, so you can just click on the logo and you can like and follow that. So that gives you more information about when you'll be informed of when it's happening next year. I'm also like the sponsors that are on there that have given whole sponsorships. We want to post some stuff on there to support their right um work, that, what they do yeah so they give to missions, so support them

Speaker 2:

and uh, give them business. Um, because they are in the business of the lord's business, right and they're, they are givers. So support them. And with that being said, I want to give a call out to all of the whole sponsors. So I've got several agents that work with me Tamara Holmes and Shanna Ford. And I've got Ford Dentistry. They have locations in Gentry, arkansas, and I believe it's Bentonville. Then also Jordan Smithson, sanderson Associates, real Estate, pure Nature, pest Control, rafter Bee Enterprises that's David Burgess' business.

Speaker 2:

Bob's Lawn Care um, that's um dustin mullen. Hell's land management brandon hell went above and beyond this year in sponsoring eight holes. So he, he is definitely a giver. Give a shout out to him. And uh, there's a berea bible church. Um, js roofing that that's Jonathan Schmid's work. Uh, lucinda Jink she's a? Um, a lender, a really good lender. She's been in in business for a long time. Um, so Chill Eat Um, that's a restaurant here in town. Uh, asian cuisine. So if you're ever in Silent Springs, make sure you drop over there. Um, they make some really good Asian food. And then Taylor Buildings that's Steven Taylor's business. And then Southpaw that is David Holden's building company. David Beckett works for him. And then Platinum Structures that's Colin Loper's business, and so that's our sponsors this year. So I want to give a shout out to each one of them and thank them for their sponsorship I

Speaker 2:

want to thank each and every player that is that is playing in it, because we couldn't do it without you guys, right? So you guys know who you are. I'm not going to go through time on this to mention all the names, but you guys know who you are, um, there's 48 of you, so thank you to all you guys for doing it. And and thank you for all the names, but you guys know who you are, um, there's 48 of you. So thank you to all you guys for doing it. And and thank you for all the prayers and support of all the people that know this ministry and have prayed that this golf tournament be successful, because that is the main thing when we face adversity like we did this year.

Speaker 2:

It's the prayers of the people that pull us out of the fire, so shout out to all of them and thank you so much for giving and your support.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I agree. Thank you on behalf of God's little one, thank you for everything y'all have done. It's been a phenomenal thing. And thank you, jared Carroll, for doing this. We really do appreciate it, we really do enjoy it and I'm looking forward to being able to be there for the first time. And this is going to wrap up this episode of the God's Little One podcast. I would like to thank my guest, jared Carroll, for being here today. God bless you. I appreciate you and hopefully you get to go on some trips and we get to do a podcast about trips. That would be awesome. Well, you have a good one. Alright, you too.

Speaker 1:

In this podcast, we've been talking about this golf tournament, which was a way to support God's little one. It was a way to help God's little one financially, and that's very important. That is very needed. And Romans 10, starting in verse 14, says how, then, shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed, and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And verse 15, the beginning of it I'm not going to read the whole verse, but the first part of it says and how shall they preach, except they be sent.

Speaker 1:

You know, this podcast, like we said, has been talking about supporting financially and the missions thrives when somebody supports, ministry works. When somebody gives, it takes support for missions to work. It takes us being sent for ministry to happen. You know, god does miraculous things. He can perform miracles, he can make loves appear. He can do it all, but He'll use us to help the mission grow. He will do miraculous things, but he will also use us, but he will also use us.

Speaker 1:

If God tells you to give, give, if God tells you to support, support, use your finances, use your means to help support. You might never go on a missions trip, you might never go overseas, but if you give, you're helping support the mission. If you give, you are helping spread God's word. And I'm not just telling you this to try and go support God's will. I'm not telling you that, I'm just telling you if God tells you to do something, if God tells you to support, if God tells you to give money, whether that's to a missions organization, whether that's to a preacher, whoever that's to, if God tells you to support support, if God tells you to give, give, it's part of the ministry, it's part of the work God has called us to do. So I encourage you if God is telling you to give, if God is telling you to support whether that's Africa, whether that's Honduras, whether that's a preacher if God is telling you to support, if God is telling you to help financially or with your means, if God is telling you to support, if God is telling you to help financially or with your means, if God is telling you to do so, do it with a joyful heart.

Speaker 1:

Well, thank you for listening to this episode of the God's Little One podcast and I'm going to take some time here to talk. So this podcast was recorded before the golf tournament happened. So I'm going to come on here right now and kind of give you a little bit of facts about the golf tournament, how it went and just about the winners and stuff. And to start out, the podcast, or the golf tournament went phenomenal. It was an awesome event, raised a good bit of money for God's little one. We really do appreciate it. Uh, so fun fact about it. Actually, last year their goal was to get $2,000. They beat that goal and got $4,000. Well, this year they set a goal of getting $8,000. It looked like they wasn't going to get the $8,000, but someone came and gave at the end and they got $8,000, from what I've been told. So that's phenomenal. It's awesome. We love this event and we really do appreciate it and it was a blast.

Speaker 1:

We actually me and Brother Danny did a live stream of this event and you go. If you go on our Facebook page, you'll see it. If you also go on Brother Danny's Facebook page, you'll see parts of it. You got to go listen, actually understand why that is. I'm not going to get into all that, but it was a phenomenal live stream. We had a blast doing it. I hope you all enjoy getting to listen to it.

Speaker 1:

But anyway, getting to the winners, so first, second and third place all got a cash prize. So, to start for who got third, I'm just going to go over each one of these and I've actually got some fun stuff to say about the third place. So, third place two guys on the team had never played golf in their life, never played golf in their life, never played golf in their life but they had two guys with them who could play golf and were good at golf. So, like we said, with the four-man scramble you don't have to be good, but if you got good players with you who can hit, then you're. Then you're pretty set. And we might have not said exactly like that, but we did say four-man scramble is a great way for first-time players, which this is a good example of that. Two guys don't know how to play, but two guys do know how to play and they got third place. So, yeah, I definitely encourage you to get involved and come next year.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, so one funny thing about one of the guys that played is, uh, the first guy, well, one of the one of the guys who didn't know how to play. I don't know when it happened, I wasn't there for it. I seen the after result, but he ended up breaking his driver. I it hit I. I asked him if it had hit the ground hard or what, and he said not really, it just broke. I don't know if he hit the ground like he said not really or something. I might get that wrong, but it nothing that should have broke it from or I might be wrong with that, but yeah, either way, whatever happened, the club broke, whether it happened from what he did or just broke, couldn't happen to a better guy because he didn't know how to play, so it gave us something to talk about.

Speaker 1:

It was funny anyway, continuing on with uh, this him also he ended up choosing to do a happy Gilmore on a hole. And well, when he did his happy Gilmore, the ball, it went way right. And Brother Jonathan and his team was actually on another hole. That was pretty close to him and the ball got pretty close to them. And something funny about that is the other guy who didn't know how to play golf came up right after him and hit it normal and he got it decently close to Johnny, to them. And something funny about that is the other guy who didn't know how to play golf came up right after him and hit it normal and he got it decently close to johnny too. Not as close as the first, that one guy, but yeah, so they both had it going in johnny's direction, but anyway, going to second place was that was actually my uncle dave's team and I don't know everybody that's on the team, but yeah, they got second place, uh, deserving of it. I'm not gonna say that, none of them don't know everybody that's on the team, but yeah, they got second place, deserving of it. I'm not going to say that, none of them didn't know how to play. They deserved it. And I'm not saying the first team didn't or the third team didn't. I just think it's funny that two guys never played golf in their life made it to the third place. I thought that was funny.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, first place, first place. So last year the team that got first place was Jared Carroll, uh, brother Carl Clark, uh, corey Osborne and what was his Nate Osborne and uh, yeah, that was the team. Well, uh, they all got first. That team ended up getting split up and brother Carl got a different team. He's had a few people with him and he didn't have last year. He had three guys that he didn't have last year, so it was a brand new team basically, from what he had. Jared Carroll got with Johnny and actually Corey and Nate were still together and they got two other guys to play. They ended up getting first. Corey and Nate were still together and they got two other guys to play. They ended up getting first. Corey and Nate's team. They got first. So they won the year before and they won this year. So congrats to all the winners.

Speaker 1:

It was phenomenal and another funny thing that happened on that. So Jared Clark and Trevor Osborne, they have not really played golf. As a matter of fact, this was Jared's third time playing golf, so they've not they don't really have the most experience playing golf. Well, there was not enough players, so these two guys got stuck on a team, just them two. They didn't have nobody else, just them two played. Well, to make it fair or fairer, I guess you could say a little more fair or just more fair uh, they gave jared and trevor, uh, they were able to have two shots instead of just one, but they took the longest time playing like we're sitting over all the teams had been done and we're waiting and jared and trevor were still out there playing. It was funny. As a matter of fact, they got started on the hardest hole poor guys, but it was just, it was a funny. It was funny, but it was of fact, they got started on the hardest hole poor guys, but it was just, it was a funny. It was funny, but it was an awesome experience.

Speaker 1:

We had a blast and I didn't actually get to take pictures and videos like I was planning on, because of the live stream. As a matter of fact, I didn't even fly my drone around once, but I've got pictures. I. I did take some videos at the beginning of the day before the tournament started, and then we had somebody there taking pictures, so I've got those. So there still will be a video on the YouTube channel. So please still be watching for that It'll be coming out. I don't have no exact dates, but it will be coming out.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, so it was an exciting event. We enjoyed it. Thank you to everybody who was a part the players, all the sponsors, jared carroll for everything he did, from playing to being over it's having the idea to getting everything together. He did a phenomenal job. It was a blast and I am looking forward to next year and I plan on trying to play next year. We'll see how that goes, but yeah, it was a phenomenal, phenomenal uh tournament. We had a blast and it was an awesome way to help support god's little one, but anyway, so I hope y'all enjoyed this bonus episode. This is the first time we've done this, but this was kind of a way for me to make up for not posting like I was supposed to last week and I really do apologize for that. But I hope y'all enjoyed us doing this bonus podcast. I've enjoyed it. It was a phenomenal podcast.

Speaker 1:

I hope y'all enjoyed it, but anyway, so in our next podcast we're actually going to be doing a two-parter. Uh, we're going to be in. This will be the first part, but we're going to be talking to brother jo Sneed and if you don't know who brother Joel is, well, uh, he was there before brother Danny took over. He, he went with uh brother Daniel and uncle Joey and then he was back in those days doing missions, working stuff, and before before brother brother uh Daniel passed. Uh, brother uh Joe was there. So and then he eventually he started his own organization called Four Corners Global Outreach and we'll be talking about that. So basically, what the format will be is the first podcast. We'll be talking about his uh God's, like the stuff he's done with God's little one and uh, the stuff he did with my papa and all that. And then the second part will be more directed towards Four Corners and they're in partner with God's Little One and stuff. So you'll still hear about that, because that's where they do their work is God's Little One, and just they'll do they do at home missions as well. So we'll hear about all that.

Speaker 1:

It's a great group of podcasts. I hope you all enjoy them both. They were a lot of fun to do. I actually went to Jonesboro to record these and we had a blast I know I did, brother Joel and me. We had a good time doing them. We really enjoyed it and it was fun and I hope you all enjoy the conversations that we had. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this episode of the gods alone podcast.
